Aircraft Carrying US Defense Secretary Required to Land in UK Because of Crack in Cockpit Window

An aircraft ferrying the US defense secretary was required to make an unplanned landing in the UK on Wednesday after a crack was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official announcement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.

"The jet landed following standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, such as Defense Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," a press officer said in a public statement.

Hegseth was returning from a brief trip to Brussels during the flight.

This event isn't the first time that a United States armed forces jet carrying a top government figure has suffered mechanical issues.

Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was required to turn back to the US capital after experiencing a mechanical problem.
