BF6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.

Gamers have begun using custom matches created through the Portal feature to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these challenges have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but although many only reward outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of acquiring twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.

Several of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration on Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and only works at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

One more community participant brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for completing them in a custom game so allies are not impaired?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are toned down in the near future, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.

At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous gaming experience in coming revisions.
