The athlete achieved her personal best of 1:54.61 the previous season in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson concluded her two-lap season with a win at the all-female Athlos meet in New York on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the World Championships recently, excelled in an outstanding win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a year affected by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Hunter Bell finished second once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this season so it was likely less of a struggle for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated Hodgkinson.

"The environment at the event is crazy so it was really, really fun."

The women-only event filled the stadium in its second year, introducing a party atmosphere to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is married to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was present to present the winners with their tiaras.

Last year's winners received sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.

The competition also attracted several top athletes, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.

American Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, secured the 100m and 200m double.
